VEGGIES/SPROUTS

It’s Never Too Early Or Too Late To Eat Healthier

WHY EAT VEGETABLES

We all know the age old saying of “Eat Your Vegetables They’re good For You !”  The Food and Drug Administration, National Cancer Institute, National Institutes of Health, American Heart  Association, American Diabetes Association and other health organizations all tell us that over 30% of cancer, diabetes, heart disease, arthritis and other chronic diseases can be prevented by adding adequate amounts of vegetables and fruits to our diet.

Still, over 90% of us do not eat an adequate amount of vegetables, fruits, whole grains and legumes to meet our healthy “Vegetable Quotient” of five to nine good serving of these per day!

Meeting our “Vegetable Quotient” of five to nine serving per day would help:

  • Reduce cancer risk
  • Reduce prostate problems
  • Reduce menopausal discomfort problems
  • Reduce cholesterol and hear disease
  • Reduce diabetes risk
  • Reduce appetite & obesity
  • Reduce feeling of fatigue

WHY SPROUTS?

Because sprouts are super vegetables. In genera,l it has been shown that sprouts are much richer in phytonutrient content than mature plants … i.e broccoli sprouts have 20-50 times more anti-cancer sulforaphane than mature broccoli. This means that eating one ounce of broccoli sprouts is like eating 20 – 50 ounces of mature broccoli.

WHICH SPROUTS AND WHY?

First, rather than nothing, any common edible sprout will be of benefit and help protect against the chronic diseases mentioned above. Some of the better ones might be:

Broccoli Sprouts -  This is one mean green. It is loaded with anti-cancer sulforaphane which stimulates our genes to make Glutathione (much more than one can take as a supplement) and to destroy cancer causing  chemicals that the body produces or that we take in from our food, water or air.  … and it has been shown to help reduce the risk of breast, colon, and rectal cancers.

Selenium Rich Broccoli Sprouts – Anyone that has read about prostate or breast cancer has read about Selenium. Recent studies have shown that biologic selenium like that found in broccoli sprouts, garlic and onion (Selenium-methyl-selocysteine or SeMSC) is much more effective than selenium salts or yeast derived selenium found in most commercial selenium supplements. The amount of selenium present in our broccoli sprouts is 30-50 times more than the amount found in mature broccoli.

Broccoli Plus Blend – This blend consists of 33% Broccoli, 20% Radish, 20% Cabbage, 20% Mung bean and 7% of Alfalfa sprouts. It is meant to provide a variety of phytonutrients that may differ from those present in 100% broccoli.

Flax Sprouts – There in no one that will not benefit from taking flax sprouts. Flax sprouts are high in cancer fighting lignans (for example, 2 capsules of our Flax sprouts have more soluble fiber than a full cup of oatmeal) and it’s richness in Omega-3 fatty acids help lower LDL cholesterol, raise HDL cholesterol and reduce allergic/immune  reactions.

Lutein, Zeaxanthin, Mesozeaxanthin -  From the hundreds lutein-like compound, these are the three main ones found in the Macula of the eye and are believed to protect the Macula against light and other oxidative damage. Lutein and Zeaxanthin are found in yellow, orange and dark green fruit and vegetables. Mesozeanthin is made by the body from luteins. Our  Nutra/Vision blend is made from Rosehips (provide high amount of NATURAL Vitamin C, Marigold petals (very rich in luteins), whole Bilberry powder (which seem to protect loss of night vision) and sprouts of carrot, spinach and marigold.

Soy Sprouts -  Taking as little as an ounce of soy beans per day seem to lower cholesterol. Further, the Genestein  precursor in soy beans seems to help fight breast cancer and to relieve symptoms of menopause. This information is good enough foe the FDA and the Amer. Gynec. Society to recommend it as a food to take for lowering cholesterol and fighting breast cancer. Further,  in recent studies done at the Harvard Medical School seem to indicate that Phenoxidiol, a component of  soy beans has been modified and is currently being studied in humans as a potent anti-cancer agent.

Garlic and Onion Sprouts – Champion health greens! Natural Garlic and Onions (not oils or extracts)  are very rich in sulfur containing compounds and seem to protect against high cholesterol, stroke, fungal infections and against various cancers.

Grains Sprouts  - Oats, barley, wheat, millet are all very rich in fiber and other phytonutrients that add to their benefit against cholesterol, cancer and diabetes control.
